Napa Serene

A country getaway, perfect as a writer's retreat or a poet's nest.

In this simple box of a home, the layout was inefficient, blocking the light and beautiful view of the Napa countryside. The home was also outdated and needed a full remodel. We kept all exterior walls but reconfigured the interior to bring in natural light and create an open living space and functional kitchen. A new modern layout was combined with old charm, rustic design, and European style touches.

We took great care in specifying non-toxic finishes throughout: the flooring is repurposed barn wood finished with a plant-based oil, the paint used had zero-VOCs and we selected natural textiles like wool, cotton and linen.
Local artisans and craftsmen were brought to the project, resulting in unique designs like the metal curtain rods, sliding door handles and custom integrated concrete sink.The furnishings are a mix of new pieces, vintage furniture from European flea markets and repurposed objects.
